- Nicely told story. To me, the compassion that he had for the enemy troops was useful IN THAT IT LEAD HIM TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AS THEY HAD BEEN GIVEN. In other words, had he "caught" the true meaning of the instructions in the first place, the guru would have been just as proud, and compassion would not have been needed to wake him up from his own biased assumption (treating his troops and not the enemy). Illuminating how the truth finds it's way no matter what the intent of the writer. My stories show me things all the time that I didn't know when I wrote them.
