Comments on Fire in his Eyes by Charlie Sundt
- A very moving story to which many will relate who have witnessed and suffered through one parent abusing the other. Very believable. Tom.
- It's an atmospheric and engrossing read with a deep insight into the workings of the young girl's mind, especially the guilt feelings. The twist is a good one made believable by the girl's wish fulfilment. Ed.
- Fire in his Eyes is daring and moving. To speak as a man through a young girl's mind is an accomplishment indeed. Good on ya, mate. Very nicely done.
- This is a wonderful story that tells the other side of domestic violence that often goes unreported and unnoticed. It's also spooky for me on two levels. The first is that I had a step mother just like this one. The second is, that I have just submitted a story (mins ago) never having read this before and yet it is paralleled in several places. Weird! Great stuff Charlie. It made me cry and that's not easy. George Rolph
- Author's comment: I wrote this story based loosely on a plot suggested to me by a friend, which was along the lines of "a girl has to learn to cope with her oppressive stepmother after her father dies". Not a very colourful plot suggestion, so I thought I'd put in a twist...
