Comments on Purple Heart Fatigue by Reid Laurence
- I'm a bit confused about the intent of the person who wrote this. Was it their desire to write about a person feeling sorry for theirselves? If so, then they did a good job of presenting the character as a distasteful person who is just weeping for the past instead of embracing the future. As a military veteran of 23 years of active duty service and a 100% disabled VA rated veteran, I served my time in several combat zones and the only thing I feel sorry for when I look back, is that I didn't get enough for my country - as Nathan Hale said, I have but one life to give to my country! Given the chance, I would go back again and again, no matter what the odds are if it meant serving and protecting my family and friends and the United States once more! In a heartbeat!
